Simon Hegarty – Chief Executive
Simon was appointed to the role of Chief Executive of the NZ Horticulture Export Authority (HEA) in September 2005. He has a strong background in the primary sector in New Zealand, including 8 years experience with the NZ Meat Industry Association (MIA) in various roles relating to market access, trade facilitation and public policy impact on the meat industry.
Commercial experience has been gained in a number of primary sector positions including a 4-year stint with a Wellington based Agri-business consultancy. This involved land use project management and strategic advisory services for a range of corporate and Government clients.
Raised on a Horowhenua dairy farm, Simon graduated with a degree in Agricultural Commerce from Lincoln University in 1987.
Barbara Maré - Administrator & Industry Advisor
Barbara has a strong academic background with tertiary qualifications (Bachelor and Masters) in the Arts. She has over 12 years work experience as Registrar/Collections Manager for Art Galleries in NZ and Australia. Barbara’s role with HEA commenced in February 2008 and is on a part-time basis.
HEA Contracted Services:
HEA contracts legal services from the Wellington firm Bartlett Law and from barrister Tim Cleary. A range of specialist advice is sought based on specific issues. Accounting services are sourced from Parbhu Gallagher Parag, Chartered Accountants.
